Griffin (he/him) has been active in the southern Maine scene since discovering it in 2015. He was invited to a rope skillshare group by friends who thought he would enjoy it, agreed to attend, and decided that first day that this was something he wanted to learn.
Excited by the seemingly endless amount of information there was to learn, and by rope's limitless possibilities, he has been learning and practicing every day since. He now has over seven years of experience in tying, bottoming, and self-tying, and over six years of experience teaching, performing, and doing demonstrations. He loves floorwork, partials, and full suspensions equally, for different reasons, and says he can't choose a favorite. He prefers doing the tying, but likes bottoming for the chance to "zone out," and enjoys self-tying and bottoming so he can better understand what his bottoms are going through.
He met Gigi the same year he discovered rope and became a regular attendee of Black Knot Rope Group, founded by Gigi and their then-rope partner in 2017. In 2018, Gigi, their rope partner, Griffin, and Cait all started tying and doing rope photo shoots together. Gigi asked Cait and Griffin to join B.K.R.G. as guest presenters and, eventually, full leaders. They accepted. Not long after, Gigi's rope partner stepped down from their leadership position. Gigi, Cait, and Griffin have been running B.K.R.G. together since, and the three have been switchy rope partners for over four years.
Over the years, he has fine-tuned and evolved his style, developing his technique to be fluid and adaptable, changing depending on his partner, his role, and what kind of rope they're planning to do. However, he says being able to connect with his partner and build the scene together is what makes it all worthwhile.
Griffin's top personal goals are to never stop learning, always seek more knowledge, always strive to improve, and continue to challenge both himself and his bottoms. His goals as an educator and B.K.R.G. leader are to give people who want to learn the tools they need to practice shibari as safely as possible, as well as give back to his community, give people more opportunities to get involved and make new connections, and provide an inclusive space for all to have access to quality B.D.S.M. education. Griffin also strives to follow the Kink Education Code of Conduct (K.E.C.C.); if you believe he has acted in a way that is not in alignment with the K.E.C.C., please reach out to us.
